peroidic boundary condition

hi all,

i am trying to simulate flow around a compressor blade, i wanted to use peroidic boundary condition to the surfaces but this particualar bc is not availabe in the menu of bc's when i use fluent. my question is do we need to specify any thing while we model the geometry and mesh the geometry for such cases. i have used icem cfd to mesh the volume around the blade. and i have done hexa hedral mesh for this particular volume.

i request to tell me how to model, mesh and use peroidic boundary condition using fluent.

thanking u all

Re: peroidic boundary condition

You can make periodic boundary using the fluent text command interface. or you should specify in Gambit.

did u make the Hexa or Tetra mesh, Which type of compressor you are modeling.

hi sam, i have made hexa mesh using icem cfd. its an axial flow compressor. can u explain how to create with text command interface.

bye ramesh

Re: peroidic boundary condition

Dear Ramesh,

I suggest you to make a geometry in GAMBIT (you can export your existing ICM geom to Gambit). In gambit you have to first "link" the edge/face meshes of the periodic boundary. In the zone specification, assign the edge/face to periodic boundry. this will give you the desired boundary condition of periodic once you export the mesh to Fluent.

Re: peroidic boundary condition

No need to make geometry in Gambit. Just use the text command interface. it is easy just check out help of fluent.
