a simple theoretical doubt
 

Imagine any 2d ordinary problem. We have already specified its boundary conditions ummm... lets say there is a body in free-flow, so we have wall, pressure inlet, pressure outlet, pressure farfield conditions.

Now in fluent, I have defined all the boundary conditions. Now when I initialize the flow(say at pressure inlet) I give in more information (like the velocity). Why is this required I mean why do I need to re-input the velocity when I have already given in enough information to fluent to compute the solution ??

any ideas ??!

Hello,

When you initialize in FLUENT, you are not providing any extra boundary conditions. It is to initialize all the variables through out the domain, for which you are solving for. This is the initial guess it takes in all the cells to start the solution. But it will take only the pressure BC you have provided and calculates the velocity from the given BC's. Guys, correct me if I am wrong some where..!!
