anyone modeled a Fan or similar one in gambit

Hi,

I am trying to model the structure of a fan that allows air to flow throug a rectangular duct in upward direction.Anyone has any idea how to model a fan in gambit that rotates by which the flow could be simulated in fluent?Any tutorial or idea suggested is greatly appreciated.

Thankyou

Do you want to model the rotation of fan and pressure generated by it or you want to model pressure vs. velocity curve for the fan?

The first one will require you to model the fan blades etc in detail and then you could moving frame of reference to solve it... however its time consuming compared to second method ( which uses known fan curve)...

You could model fan with a casing and hub and flow taking place in between these two parts... You could have blades connected to hub and now rotate all these parts when you apply BCs. Trick in fan design is the blades angle etc... which will make it hard to model in Gambit without importing the geometry or taking long time in Gambit...

Few articles given under Fluent web site:

Thanks, AJ

Hi AJ,

That was very usefull information.I was thinking about the second one(pressure vs velocity).I am sure I will be able to figure out something from the links you have provided.Once again thankyou so much.
