Fluent 's basic equations
 

Hi friends

i have just started using the fluent . Can anybody tell me what equations the software uses in calculating flow past bodies and what is the meaning of pressure outlet (i mean to say that what are the conditions which are imposed when we use the boundary condition as pressure outlet)

and is there a gud book of fluent which can explain actually the physics and processes behind the software so that we can use it efficiently

Please see the article 'Using the solver' in Fluent's documentation.

and 'Pressure outelt boundary conditions ' under 'Boundary conditions' . It says '' At pressure outlets, FLUENT uses the boundary condition pressure you input as the static pressure of the fluid at the outlet plane, , and extrapolates all other conditions from the interior of the domain. hi, usually it comes with the software or you can simply type 'fluent documentation' in google.

The book 'Computational methods for fluid dynamics' by someone called something like ...Ferzier is in my opinion the best general cfd book. It has all the equations etc and then you can reference to it if you write them down.

This is of course as a supplement to the documentation which has everything you could need but can be a nightmare when you can't locate something easily.

The documentation can be gotten from the fluent website or you could download a copy using something like emule - as far as I know this isn't illegal but you should check first.

I expect though that all you need to do is go into the start menu then programs - fleuent.inc products - fluent documentation and click it!
