Residuals

Hello, I've one question about the Residuals in Fluent 6.3. In the Residuals-window there's one graph called continuity. Does somebody know exactly what it is and how it's calculated? All other Residuals convergence fast, only the continuity stays flat at 1e-02. Why didn't the simulation convergence.

Thank you in advance.

Re: Residuals

Hello,

I think to converge your solution your should tight your mesh and/or change your discretization scheme.

Thank you for answering me. I already tried a finer mesh (Y+~1). In both cases I used the second order accuracy because of the tetrahedral grid.

Re: Residuals

continuity depicts the conservation of mass. check your bc's, monitor the inlet/outlet mass flowrate... going to finer mesh and higher order accuracy will tend to slower convergence in most cases!
