Hello,

Firstly does anyone know how to use the Camera under Views.. I was trying to manipulate this but to no effect. And what can it be used for please?

Secondly I have a rotating body, is there any way of showing this rotation in a scene animation?

I mean I can't change the Views by rotating it a few degrees at a time, so is there any other way?

Thanks you experts...

You can write a journal file with these two command lines repating 360 times. The first line will rotate the view by 1 degree and the second line will capture the view. The saved images then can be animated outside fluent. Make sure the file name in the second line is different for different views.

dis view cam or-cam 1 0

dis hc "mov001.tif"

Bashu,

Wow, that's awesome, thanks very much.

When I do this do I need to write these two lines 360 times with different names for the file name in the second line?

Also what will this actually give in term of views? Will it simply rotate around my model i.e. like a panoramic view? Or will it really show the fluid moving as well so I can see the effect of the rotation on the fluid in real time (almost)?

Thanks again

You can create an animation from the files following this guide: http://tinyurl.com/3ablhk -Dr. Flow Squad http://tinyurl.com/2gkjh8

Hey,

I've tried the commands you gave above, although they are rotating and creating a tif file each time, this tif file cannot be viewed. I have tried opening these files on several programs just to check including, photoshop, MS paint, fax and photo viewer, photodraw, corel paint shop pro etc..

But they all say it's not a valid file for some reason. Do you know what is happening?

Thanks

In file -->hardcopy, the default is postScript. You need to set it to tif or jpeg and use Dr. Flow's method to see the animation. This method is good to see the plot from different views.

You can create the journal file using a do loop and yes you have to change the name of the harcopy file each time.

The camera command can be used to zoom in and out also and you can explore it using the Text comand lines.

If you want to see the rotation the best I can think of is probably to animate the pathlines for a steady flow.
