Default XYZ (ASCII format) data points into GAMBIT

Hello,

I am a postgrad and working on my thesis. My main problem is GAMBIT. I am trying to import ASCII (XYZ data) files (which are the contours of a river channel) into Gambit and then create a volume based from these contours, export to fluent and run water down the channel. Problem I have is that I do not know how to tackle the data import part.

I know that there are two ways import

Vertex data & ICEM input

But my problem is the sheer numbers of data points.

My work is to see whether high resolution data capture produces better 3D CFD models, so my data points range from 5,000 up to 17million.

So far I have managed to get small numbers of data points but then GAMBIT just crashes before i can make the vertexes into faces etc.

.... many thanks for any help on this matter.

Neil
