Hi every one,

I`m a new user of Gambit and I`ve a problem in meshing a cylinder, I made the mesh for the circular face and when I mesh the volume the mesh interval size is so small even if I change it it is still small, is there any one could help me.

maybe you should mesh the edge first with size you want

Hi

After meshing one face of the cylinder, use the Cooper scheme.

after I mesh the face I use Cooper scheme but the spacing in every time is the same as the spacing of the face even if I change it.

Thank you Dear Mr ritmat for your concern, but I don't use size function. I don't know why this happens but the interval size of the cooper scheme is always the same as the face mesh for every value I chose.

Hi

While using the cooper scheme, select the "Remove old mesh" option, and don't select the "remove lower mesh" option. Specify an interval size. I hope this works.

If you have a size function for that volume, select the "ignore size functions" option.

Dear all

I tried all what you said but no effect the proplem still.

may be if one of you can try to draw a grid for a pipe with diameter 15 and length 500 and tell me if he can control the interval size of the volume mesh at constant interval size of area.

Hi

I think I know what the problem is. Considering a cylinder, you have three surfaces and only two edges representing the side circles. In order to control the interval size along the span of the cylinder, you need a line (edge) that you can mesh. No edge is created for the body of the cylinder, that's why you can't control the interval size on it.

Here is what you should do:

1) create the cylinder (it will only have two lines representing the side cirles (check it for your self). 2) create an edge between the two vortecies of the side circles and mesh it with the interval size you want. 3) mesh one circle (face). 4) use the cooper scheme to mesh the volume.

Please tell me if this works.

Hi again

I forgot to tell you to split the face of the cylinder (the body) with the edge (virtual). This step come after step 2.

Sorry
