Nondimensionalization in FIDAP

Hello,

I am trying to solve a fluid flow problem associated with laser wel melt pool. Problem includes a fixed free surface, heat flux input. BUOYANCY feature is used, density is specified in Bousinesq form. The problem has a very poor convergence behaviour so I decided to use nondimensionalization. However, now the solver crashes without even trying solving. I checked all the values they seem ok. Reynolds number is around 4 and Prandtl is around .25 for the referans values I used.

Any help will be appreciated.

Regards,

Semetay

Re: Nondimensionalization in FIDAP

it seems like one of the referans values were way too high so I corrected it and now it runs. But the results I am getting are very different from the ones in the dimensional form. In fact, they are not even close. Any ideas? I used (b) set of equations as mentioned in the nondimensionalization chapter of fidap manual.

thank you...
