hey all,

im having some trouble with patching. I have a rectangular domain, at which I want to define initial temperature 30 degrees C at the upper boundary, 20 degrees C at the lower boundary and I want the temperature to linearly decrease from 30 to 20 at the points inbetween. Can anyone help please?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

regards, Louisa

hey,

I thought my problem is explained better this way:

im having some trouble with patching. I have a rectangular domain, at which I define backflow temperature 30 degrees C at the upper boundary, 20 degrees C at the lower boundary and I want the initial temperature to linearly decrease from 30 to 20 at the points inbetween. The fluid enters the domain from a "hole" and is at 15 degrees C initially. At the initial conditions, i put 15C? Then how can I make the initial temp of the domain (porous media) to decrease linearly? Can anyone help please?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

regards, Louisa

Setting spatially varying initial temperatures is simple via an udf. Look in the udf manual for the section and example dealing with initial conditions.
