getting started in gambit

Hi all,

I am new to gambit, having completed the online tutorials, I am still having difficulty with some of the basic concepts.

I am modelling a urinary catheter, i create the basic geometry, uniting a cylindrical volume with a sphere at the tip.

Create another volume in the centre of catheter projecting and intersecting with the outer wall to create a face for the eyelet. Here is where i get into trouble.

the way I look at it I should deleted the volumes either side of the intersect, this turns the eyelet face blue, which means that it is not part of the volume.

Then i go to stitch the volume with the blue face and i get an error message saying

ACIS error is this an open shell?

how do I over come this or is my approach to creating the geometry wrong to start off with?

Thanks in advance for any responses

make a use of boolean operation like unit, subtract and intersect. hope this will do
