a question about vortex stretching
Since vortex stretching is a 3D phenomenon, can 2D model simulate it properly? If not, how its influence is considered in 2D? As we know, the vortex stretching mechanism is related to the energy and momentum transfer. I remember on class the professor told me the vortex stretching can't be simulated in 2D. From the 2D k-epsilon equation the energy is transfered and dissipated, so if vortex stretching is included, which term in the equation accounts for it? Thank you in advance.
