Multi-core systems - Fluent parallel
Hello,
I know that a process on a 32 bits machine could use only 4 GB of RAM. On a multi-core system like Intel dual(quad)-core it is possible to use with Fluent parallel 8 GB of RAM ? |
Re: Multi-core systems - Fluent parallel
yes but you need parallel licences. Also if you need >2Gb RAM per core then you need 64bit OS, hardware and Fluent version. In fact 32 bit Fluent can only access about 2-2.5Gb Ram per processor. On linux its about 3Gb Ram. But you can access more using 32bit application on 64 bit OS/hardware but 64bit needs 20% more memory on its own.
