I'm now doing some exercises on the annular blade cascades. In the case, two boundaries should be made periodic. However, even I set the mesh of the two boundaries exactly the same, I can't make them periodic. The mesh was created using ANSYS ICEM v11.0, the Fluent version is v6.3.36, I used the "Creating Conformal Periodic Zones" method in the help document to create the periodic boundary, but failed. I even tried a 1/4 part of a pipe, but still failed to make the boundary periodic even the mesh can't be as simple as it is. Can anyone tell me how can I create a conformal periodic rotational boundary in this condition? Thanks.

Hi..

I think your problem is about your rotating axis... In fluent the default rotating center line x=0, y=0, z=0 and rotating axis is Z ... for example if you draw your pipe model on x axis (center line of the straight pipe is on x=0, y=0, z=0 and it lies on x axis) you should set rotating axis x under define/boundary conditions/(Your rotating zone)... but before all of this don't forget to make all your couple of your periodic faces to be meshed periodicaly

Hi.
Is it better to use icem for a 2d conjugate heat transfer problem, or using ANSYS standard mesher is better.

Thank you.
