no,if I use the latest version is it going yo work?

Re: Gambit compatibility problem with VISTA
should be. check the web site for further details. If not, use Linux - it is 1000x better and stable for this job (and not only :) ).

Re: Gambit compatibility problem with VISTA
can i download it online?i mean for free?

Re: Gambit compatibility problem with VISTA
Yes, for Linux. You could pick basically any Linux distribution for free :). (On Fedora 6,7,8 - Gamnbit and Fluent runs with no problem).
No, for Exceeded ... you have to pay for the license. |
Re: Gambit compatibility problem with VISTA
Maybe you can try using XMING. It's a free X-Server for Windows ...

Re: Gambit compatibility problem with VISTA
Any Linux distribution is free downloadable, but not FLUENT and co. I mean, you can find the program but without a valid license the use is not allowed. I use it under Suse x64 and could say, the there is a huge differents between Win x64 and Linux x64 . Better memory optimisation and much more stability under Linux - my simulations have never been crashed or similar. Under Win .... only one try with 100 000 particles is enough for the total mess.

Re: Gambit compatibility problem with VISTA
Can anyone tell me how to set up xming or gambit in fact gambit tells me:
Locating Exceed installation ... gambit failed in locating Exceed installation on your system. Please try to start Exceed manually before you run gambit. |
Re: Gambit compatibility problem with VISTA
After struggling with this for some time I eventually found the (admittadely ineligant and very bloated) solution of installing windows XP onto a virtual machine in vista and installing gambit (inc. exceed) onto that. This also has the advantage over dual booting that files can be dragged between the two systems. The performance in Gambit seems to be ok, though of course when running a large simulation in fluent (on vista) you will want to make sure you close Virtual PC as you are likely to have a large amount of RAM assigned to XP in order for it to run smoothly. You can also install any other non vista compatible sofware onto this virtual machine.
