Default use of adaptive time-step

Hi Because of saving the computational effort I must to obtain the minimum time step for achieve convergenc solution, for this purpose I want to use of adaptive timestep in range of 0.001 to 0.0001 s for saving the CPU time. If any one know the suitable method please help me. Thanks
