Hello everyone,

Which is the most recommended book to read for having a good insight into using C/C++ with Fluent? I know the first step is to reading the UDF User manual, but then when it comes to finding the best book for more complex UDF, the opinions are diverging: some say to read about C, some say read about C++ and others say to get a book on Microsoft Visual Basic.

My level in terms of programming is beginner, but I'll need to use extensively UDFs in Fluent for my research and I looking for a book which says and relates more to programming for engineers (naval engineers espc.) rather than computer engineers, games, etc...

I can understand there is no such thing as "The Best" book, but any recommendations at all? So far none of the uni staff was able to help me, so I refer to this forum for guidance...

Thanks for your much appreciated help!

The Fluent is written in C and not in C++ (the Visual Basic is a joke in CFD).

The "book" in C programming is:

"The C Programming Language", Second Edition, by Brian W. Kernighan and Dennis M. Ritchie.

You could find lots of good tutorials in C on google ...

"teach yourself C" by Herbert Shield may be a good one.

Yes. VB is really a joke. Books by Herbert Schildt and by C++ Developer are good ones. There is no such book for Fluent UDF, just the Fluent Manuals. C++ or C do not matter. You can use any one of them for Fluent.
