Hi, I am having an issue with fluent, as I have 2 zones which are separated by a crack and I want to set the pressure of one zone to be higher than the other to analyse flow through the crack. I have attempted to do this using the patch feature but am not having success, does anyone have any advice?
Thanks |

The patch method is correct. Can you elaborate what do you mean by "I'm not having success"?

First I select patch-(variable)pressure-(zones to patch)room and then input the pressure into value. However when I run calculation the results arn't showing a pressure different between the zones. Also just to confirm is the value input into the patch total pressure or gauge pressure?
Thanks for your help. |

Total pressure is defined as static pressure + dynamic pressure. If you start with fluid at rest just input static gauge pressure. After patching go to plot contour and see if you patched correctly.

of course you must re patch after doing an initialization, the initialization replaces every variable in the whole domain with the chosen inital values. patching should not be too tedious just a few clicks ..
