I modelled the Francis turbine (hydro turbine) in 2D.While meshing using Tri-Pave scheme, GAMBIT shows that triangle meshing reached specified maximum no. of mesh faces:100000 and you can modify this behavior by changing the value of default MESH.TRIMESH.MAX_FACES.

Please let me know how to solve this problem.

Sanjay,

It sounds like you have a degernate face. I have come across this plenty of times. Gambit may think that the face is folded over itself many many times so when it goes to mesh the face there are actually layers and layers of faces. My main experience is with 3D, but I would suggest deleting the face that is causing the trouble and either recreate it in Gambit or import it again into gambit if that is how the geometry was created.

Dear Sir,

Thanks for your valuable reply.

I have already tried the option mentioned by you but same problem is repeating. Actually, this problem occurs not only in one face but all the faces. (I tried it in 3 different faces).

Please let me know how to solve this problem?

With regards.

If it occurs in all the faces, then I'm not too sure. How was the geometry created. Perhaps its a scale issue if you imported it. Try different interval sizes or limiting the interval count and see if you can mesh. Are you actually trying to get the face above 100000 elements?

If you want to change the max number of elements, go to Edit>>Defaults and select the Mesh tab. From there you can pick the bullet labeled "TRIMESH" and in the variable section select "MAX_FACES" and set it to a value that you like. This is for Gambit 2.4.6, I'm sure all other versions are similar if not the same method for this.
