pure conduction

hello to all,

is it possible to solve pure conduction without any motion in a unsteady state condition in fluent? thanks

Hi,Sudhir Yes it is. In the panel of the "Solution controls", disable the "Flow" in the Equations. Then you can work only with the energy equation and without the momentue equation.

I hope it is helpful to you.

Best Regards, Ben Tseng.

hello ben,

thanx for your kind reply.i proceeded as you mention.i got better solution than previous.my project guide feels that in my current model heat transfer is influenced by both conduction and convection.but he wants heat transfer only by conduction process not convection. is it possible? thank you once again

Hi,Sudhir Sorry for the late reply. I have a long vacation in my life.

I see your question. You want your computation to be just the conduction without convection. As the method I have told you, the fluid is only the pure conduction. So, when you disable the "FLOW" in the solution controls panel, your flow has no mementum equation and the velocity in the energy equation is to be zero. On the other hand, your flow has been only the effect of the pure conduction. In this process, you do not need to do other settings.

I hope this helpful to you.

Best regards, Ben Tseng.

Re: pure conduction

You may achieve the same in a simpler way by defining your domains as solid rather than fluid. This way the continuity and momentum equations are unnecessary.
