Hello,
Trying to model the Eckardt Rotor in Fluent and achieve a performance characteristic curve at and around the BEP using steady solutions. All the boundary conditions for wall movement, periodics etc. are fairly obvious to set up but I'm not sure what the best conditions are to specify for the inlet and the outlet. I'm running density based (obviously), ideal gas material properties, Green-Gauss node based with explicit formulation using the S-A one-equation turbulence model with vorticity-based production and default model constants. I guess what I would like to know, from those with experience, is what kind of inlet condition is best specified? Mass flow inlet or pressure inlet? I think mass flow inlet personally, particularly considering what I'm trying to achieve. Best guess for supersonic/initial gauge pressure? Not sure but trying to obtain realistic axial inlet velocity with respect to this pressure. As for the outlet, I've chosen a pressure outlet but not sure what gauge pressure to select or whether to use a profile, in my first run I got some strange (non-physical) results, with all the convergence I could get and with the blame facing the outlet boundary condition which I based around a 1D calculation. |
