Modelling of fluid flowing from a cylinder

Hi there,

I was wanting to model the effect of the dump expansion of fluid from a cylindrical tube into an open space but am having trouble with the approach. Should I just model the cylinder as flowing into a much larger space or is it possible to do this via another method such as a 'free space' boundary condition, etc. I heard that someone at some point modelled it into 'infinite' space but not sure if this is possible. Thanks.

Any help is very much appreciated.

Phil

Infinite space modelling in cfd is a myth. the right thing to do is determine the domian of interest to such an extent which ur hardware can bear.

So, Ur first approach may be correct.
