combustion model in premixed combustion chamber

I try to use the "premixed combustion model" and "transport species model" in FLUENT, however, the result is not good. who have the experience to calculate the premixed combustion in FLUENT? can you give me some advices and some important points in the setting of parameter. thanks

Re: combustion model in premixed combustion chambe

The choice of a combustion model depends on the flow regime of your system. In general you can you use either the finite rate/eddy dissipation model (under transport species) for turbulent flows as a starting poit. Default parameters work well quite often.

Pay attention, if you are using ideal gas law for the density, to the operating pressure setting.

Re: combustion model in premixed combustion chambe

thank you for your answer. I have tried to use "transport species" model and "finite rate/dissipation" model, firstly, I calculate the isothermal flow field without combustion, however, after ignition in a point in the flow(patch the temperature and the mass fraction of production), after sever iteration, I can not get any flame because with the decrease of temperature, the arrhenius reaction rate is too small, it quench the flame(using defaute parameters for propane). what can I do to solve this problem? change the constant of reaction rate?

Re: combustion model in premixed combustion chambe

when using fr/ed keep in mind that you need not only to patch the domain with a enough high temperature but also with a minimun concentration of the species involved in the combustion process (both reactants and products).

If it does not work yet, plese describe your domain in detail.

I hope it is useful for you.

I can't understand "ignition in a point ". I always ignition all the zone and let it iteration. Sometimes I got a good result, or you can say I get the flame. I will pay attention to your job!

Hi,

I am trying to solve a similar case of premixed combustion with no inlet and outlet. I am not getting good results while using Species transport model. I mean the results doesn't make any physical sense. Please help me on this.

hi did you ever solve this problem as i am doing a very similar simulation and having trouble getting the flame to occur

premixed flame using zimont model

HI,
I am a newer in premixed combustion. When I use the FLUENT to modeling, I am confusing about the premixed combustion using Zimout model in FLUENT. I can't find where can I specify the mixture(methane-air) equivalence ratio or about the mixture materials.
Anyone knows how to solve it ? Please help me. Thanks in advance! This question is confusing me several days!
Best regards!

hi. i wana set temperature profile on the outer wall of combustion camber in 2-d as a boundary condition. any body know how should i do? any body have udf for it?

Check out a PROFILE, there's a tutorial in the Fluent help.
