Default T-junction hexahedral gambit meshing (same radius)

Hello I have to mesh a T-junction composed of two cylinders with the same radius. I want to get hexahedral elements for my mesh. I don't know how I have to decompose my geometry. I would like to get some ideas. Thank you very much Florence

Hi Florence. Go to tutorial nş3 in Gambit documentation the title is something like "3 pipe junction". There you´ll have a good explanation. Good luck!

Hello HSeldon Thank you but I have already done this tutorial and I tried to inspire myself with it, but I met an error of gambit. I want to mesh a logical tetrahedra with the Tet Primitive Scheme but Gambit says me that the connectivity of my volume doesn't allow the Tet Primitive Scheme. I tried to disconnect the faces of my volume, but it didn't work. I searched on books what are the connectivity conditions for Tet Primitive Scheme, no success. I don't know how to deal with this error. Thanks Florence

Did you try meshing the central volume of the intersection and then mesh the rest with hex cooper scheme?

A piece of text taken from Gambit documentation, hope this helps!

The Tet Primitive volume meshing scheme applies only to volumes that constitute logical tetrahedra. To constitute a logical tetrahedron, a volume must include only four sides, each of which constitutes a logical triangle.

Finally, I found a way to solve my problem. I split my intersection volume with three "cylinders" and then I used cooper scheme in the good order. _______________________________________ | | | | | | | /\ | | _________________ ____________________

Here a scheme the decomposition I used. The radius are the same. I hope my scheme won´t be destroy.

I know its quite an old post but I'm interested to know how you managed to mesh the pipe t junction using the cooper scheme. Any help would be much appreciated
