volume or shell for moving/dynamic mesh?

Hi,

I just want to ask a question. if we want to apply moving mesh to an object, such as rotating a sphere. The sphere must be a volume (meshed cells) or can it be a shell (surface mesh)?

I am asking because my object is very complex and it is very difficult to generate the volume mesh. All this time I substract the outer domain with the object and use the object's surface mesh to mesh the rest of the domain.

Thanks

if your sphere contains only solid (and if you aren't interested with conduction within the solid), you can forget the motion of the sphere. Check the tutorial of dynamic mesh, it's about a check valve with a sphere (2d-axi) fluent_help/help/html/tg/node181.htm
