Why Specify rotation speed?

Hello,

When using the multiple reference frame model we specify the rpm of the rotor. My question is; is it possible that we don't speficy the rotation speed and the CFD code calculates the rotational speed (in the case of a wind turbine) casued by the incident wind. Obviously we'd have to specify some more parameters like inertia I guess but is this possible?

Thanks a bunch

You may not use the MRF approach based on the steady state then and a complicated time-dependent simulation may be needed.

Davy,

Thanks for oth your responses. Why may I not use the MRF on the steady state simulation?

Also can you please elaborate on the time dependent simulation thanks a bunch.
