Default UDF for particle distrubution in DPM

I'm new to writing udf's and am trying to write one that introduces a distribution of particles on a surface. Subsequently, I would like to track the distribution of the particles in my domain which consists a porous zone. Any help on how to get started would be greatly appeciated.
