Water Hammer in a pipe

Hi, I would like to know how to model the water hammer effect on a pipe with water and a valve which closes suddenly. I know I should model it as a compressible and transient flow but need a fluid structure interaction model or just a CFD model is enough to determine maximum pressures? Cheers

I agree with you to analyze it in transient condition, about interaction, i think you have to perform the UDF of moving mesh, but i prefer to UDF where you can state the speed when valve closed or open so you can see the change in pressure where deeply recognized as " water hammer"
