What force vector in monitoring Lift Coefficient?
Hi, I am currently doing air flow over 3D model airplane using FLUENT. I have a question regarding the monitoring and reporting the lift coefficient in modeling a 3D airplane model. I am confused in putting the right force vector in X, Y and Z direction. Should i put x=0, y=0 and z=1 in order to monitor a lift coefficient? This is because the default value is in x=0 and y=1 for lift and i think this value should be valid only for 2D model. I hope any of you who knows about this can answer my question thank you.

it depends on the orientation of your model If the lift effect occures in x-direction (in your model), then you have to work with drag

Thanks for the reply. The lift is acting on the Z direction of my 3D model. So what does this force vector represent actually? when i click on lift Coefficient, the default value is x=0 and y=1, what value should i put in or should i change the default value of the x, y and z component? Thank you |

if the lift is acting in z-direction (in your model), then you have to pick the lift coefficient, and correct the projection of the force (eg: 0/0/1 instead of 0/1/0 per default)
