Hi, in hypermesh you have to export as .nas file and in fluent use import option(file-import-nastran).

You can export a .cas file directly with an additional package in Hypermesh. (you can read or write .cas files and you can also read .msh files)

Of course you have to mesh using tri/tet elements. I work only doing mesh of surfaces (I use tgrid to do the 3d mesh).
My geometries are complex. When I have problems with mesh, it is because of difficulties of geometry (skewness). It is easy when you need to improve skeness. When you work with elements linked to the geometry, it is very easy to modify the mesh. I can not compare with other software because it is the only that I know. |

Hi Geogorio,
What do you just use HyperMesh to produce the mesh of surface? Is the solid elements created by HyperMesh not suitable for Fluent? Thanks. |

The solid elements from Hypermesh should be corrects for Fluent. I have tried to work with 3d elements from Hypermesh but at the moment, for me it is longer than doing the 3d elements with Tgrid.

Thanks for your reply. Now I'm studying the thermal problem of electronic devices. Due to the complex of geometry, I have to use Hypermesh to produce mesh and import to Fluent. Now I face a problem that I can't import the 2D interface elements between sold and fluid parts into Fluent. Some error messages will happen. If I neglect them, Fluent will produce the interior interface automatically but not complete. Thus I can't assign all coupled wall. Although I can use Gambit to assign these wall but it's too boring. Do yo have any suggestions? Tanks a lot.

Hypermesh is not the most appropriate software for cfd simulation. If you want prcise result,I can gridding for you.

Hi,
You can use hypermesh only to generate the surface mesh. Then transfer it to Tgrid and generate volume mesh. then import in fluent. Hope it will solve your problem. Milind |

Hi,
I've produced 3d mesh with Hypermesh, but I don't know how to import it to fluent,,My Geometry is too complex and hypermesh is the only choice for me. Fluent 14.1 can import Hypermesh file directly, but it shows an error, could any body help me? |

HI Farshad,
Dont know if the issue is still unresolved. Anyways, HyperMesh has a direct export to Fluent. It is possible to generate .cas/.msh files http://www.altairhyperworks.com/hwhe...for_fluent.htm http://www.altairhyperworks.com/hwhe...m?cfd_1000.htm |
