hello,

i have to create a rectangular microchannel inside an aluminium brick, the channel running through the brick from one face to the opposite face or let's say the brick is hollow having a rectangular hole within it.Water runs through the rectangular channel carrying away heat from the aluminium block. So i have to make 2 volumes, water and aluminium surrounding it.

How can i create this mesh in GAMBIT?Will just subtracting the channel volume from the block would do?

I need urgent help regarding this.Thank you.

i would split the outer brick with the inner volume, deselect "retain". specify continuum types where appropriate.

Hi I am also trying to solve problem very similar to the one above. So instead of posting a new message, I am continuing in this one. As you said I have created two volumes and split it and specified the solid and fluid continuum types.

Now I want to do Conjugate HT on this model. I know the initial temperature of the solid and the properties of the fluid which is flowing through this micro channel. When I import the Gambit model into FLUENT it has automatically created shadow wall for all the walls which are adjacent to the fluid. Now what BC's do I have to specify for the wall-one and wall-one-shadow.

Thanks in advance.

You should specify the temperature, radiation, and slip-condition at the "wall-one" zone. You may have to specify these conditions for the wall shadow as well. I had noticed that the DPM boundary conditions only are available for wall-shadows in at least one setup I encountered. I know you are not using the DPM model (or probably aren't), but I thought I would say this anyhow.

I defined the Boundary conditions on all the wall and shadow wall surfaces and for the fluid I defined the initial temperature at the velocity inlet BC. But how do I specify the initial temperature of the solid volume. I can only define wall BCs.

Thanks S
