Hi guys,

I am a graduate student and new to Fluent. For my class term project, I need to simulate a solitary wave propagating over a constant depth domain. I am using the VOF model with 2 phases (water and air). I have almost everything set up except for the initial waveform in the domain. I know the functions for the wave profile (Boussinesq's solutions), the velocity components u and v, and pressure, p. I understand that this is a very simple case for many of you. But, if someone can help me set up the initial wave and get the simulation started, I'd really appreciate it.

Hi there
solution initialization> compute from> velocity_inlet
then
solution initialization> open channel initialization method> flat

Hi there too
If I use your method (open channel initialization > flat), the Fluent generate waves continuously.
What should I do if only need 1 wave?
Is UDF at the boundary the only solution?

Thanks there
