It could be that you don't have the additional license required, but the command prompt list should be:

define > models > addon-module > select option for MHD

Cheers

You are getting that error, because you have to load a mesh before typing in the commands to load the MHD module.

Hope this helps,

hey i'm trying to activate this module as well. i type in the command properly but it says "invalid command [addon-module]"

when i type "help" and press enter it shows me the options and says that addon-module is disabled. see:

infinitygee35 September 8, 2015 12:30

for me fluent says "invalid command [addon-module] and when i type "help" it says that that addon-module is disabled.

what can i do now?

dean993 September 8, 2015 19:22

You will FIRST have to load a mesh to the Fluent, then go to enable the MHD add-on. This feature is not enabled when the mesh is not loaded in Fluent. I have tested this.

infinitygee35 September 9, 2015 13:50

and how do i enable meshing? when i fire up fluent 16 i check mark the option for "meshing mode". is that correct?

if it is, i did that and when i type the command it still doesn't allow. it says "invalid command [define].

this is frustrating. need to get a flow sim done

dean993 September 9, 2015 20:18

No, it is not Mesh Mode. Just Start the Fluent normally (with double precision) and then click: File - Read - Mesh. Then load a mesh and once that has finished, Enter the commands.

Hi erfan1995,

Can you post the Text User Interface commands? Full list with the error.

Regards,
Dean

erfan1995 April 14, 2018 13:34

aha i had same problem but i solved it!
you should put your cursor at the end of texts in console and then press enter button once to go to next line and you will see
">"
now type this:
define/models/addon-module

you will get the point!

erfan1995 April 14, 2018 13:36

hello,

can you please tell me how you load the mhd module, i have fluent 19, and i read that i need to do a text command, i don't know how, i can do udfs and pretty much everything, but the text command is something i'vre never used

thanks

dean993 September 23, 2018 21:14

Hi Vektor,

Load Fluent with a mesh or case file. Put your cursor on the console window and hit enter. You will get a set of text. Then paste "define/models/addon-module" and hit enter. Then you will get a set of addon modules. Type "1" and hit enter to activate the model. Go to the Models tree where you will find the MHD model visible.

hello sir, i am also stuck in the same problem. i tried using your technique mentioned here, but still there was no effect of magnetic field. can there be any other problem? Also, what type of wall should i use, conducting or thin?

Far March 23, 2022 05:09

First type "define" (without inverted commas)
Then type "models"
Then type "addon-module"

A list will appear like this:
0. None
1. MHD Model
2. Fiber Model
3. Fuel Cell and Electrolysis Model
4. SOFC Model with Unresolved Electrolyte
5. Population Balance Model
6. Adjoint Solver
7. Single-Potential Battery Model
8. Dual-Potential MSMD Battery Model
9. PEM Fuel Cell Model
10. Macroscopic Particle Model
11. Reduced Order Model
Enter Module Number: [0]

Type 1 on text interface and you will be able to activate MHD model.
