how do i create fire in fluent to simulate smoke

Hi all,

Does someone can help in this matter? This is my assigment and I'm new to CFD. How do I create fire in Fluent to simulate the smoke dispersion. Pls help me.....

You can either use the combustion models available to simulate the fire, or you can model the fire as a fluid zone with a heat generation source.

Hope that helps.

Car ParK Simulation

Hello Evry Body
I am doing for a car park smulation.
To simulate the smoke? I put a passif scalar as smoke with velocity and temperature are equal : 1m:s ans 700 K.
I want a real case, I want to see the mass fraction of Co ans Nox, Visibility
I want to the full job in this kind of problems.
Please help me

For gas distribution use multiphase model and define all species that you want. I think it is not necessary to model the real flame... this will not give you more information but will give you modeling problems.

Thank you for your reply,
To simulate a real case can you help me to put the right data.
Mass fraction of co, and nox ..., Masse flow, or velocity, and temperature.
Thank you again.

Species fractions depends on what is burning, conditions of combustion, air speed and many others ... if you model an exact combustion process your task will be very very specific.... if you what to model smoke distribution then take typical gas fractions in combustion of the fuel you want, take typical BC (heat source, velocities, Pressure...)and use unsteady solver...

Thank you againe.
This is my provleme, advice me please,
Advice me for a real case and boundary conditions. thank you so match

Philipov June 4, 2009 03:34

Give me scheme of the situation, type of fuel, place of burning....

metco June 4, 2009 03:41

A real case for car park scenario.
Thank's

Philipov June 4, 2009 03:46

if you want someone to help you must be more informative... what is the type of fuel that is the source of the fire...

metco June 4, 2009 03:46

Let's take a combustion of methane for example.

Philipov June 4, 2009 03:56

It is not possible to say (let's say methane)!!!!!!!!!! products from methane combustion are CO2 and H2O ... so in that case you what to model CO2 distribution so... you just model air and CO2 with let's say 0.02 kg/s... with the information you give I can not do more..

I will comback to you form details,
I wil try to be clear, the problem is this kind of situation is new for me.
I have looked for other publications and the show only results without details of boundary conditions.
Thank you very match againe.

I comback to you withe more details about my simulation.

Fire scenario inside a tunnel :
burning 500 l of diesel in 6 min
average released power of 44.4 MW
The fire is modelled using a volumetric

How could i set up those boundary conditions in fluent

Best
Thank you for all.

I wanna model a fire placed at the bottom of a sealed room. how can i do do and do u know about any tutorial or related paper of it

please help me. i am new in this things
