Free surface question

Hi, I am trying to calculate liquid/gas behavior by natrual convection in 2D model. Container has different temperature at each wall, and gas is moving from left to right. Instead of VOF, I want to assign virtual wall condition between 2 phases. Does anybody have good idea about boundary conditions of this virtual wall to make similar effect to free surface behavior? Thanks,
