HOW TO APPLY CONSTANT HEAT FLUX OVER WALL OF TUBE

sir, i'm doing my master's degree project in cfd,my project is dealing with internal tappered finned tube,i use to model by gambit and analyse by fluent. my boundary condition is constant heat flux over the entire wall surface, inlet temperature and inlet velocity, laminar flow. for applying heat flux over the wall i have little bit confusion, Because while i modeling i modelled only fluid flow area, suppose if i apply heat flux value means it takes value same as outer region as well as internal finned area. plz kindly send help tutorial for internal tappered finned tube as well as your kind suggesion..

Re: HOW TO APPLY CONSTANT HEAT FLUX OVER WALL OF T

hi i feel ur problem is 'u want to apply heat flux on only fin area but it is applying on outer wall boundary also if yes then just make seperate face zone for fin surfces in gambit, and then u can apply heat flux to fin surface face zone only.

Thanks

which area want to draw for fluent thermal analyse

sir, circular tube with thickness[shell like]consists of internally 4[90' each 1 is placed on axis] tappered fin extends throughout the length of the tube.. for doing thermal analyse by gambit and fluent, which area wants to draw,,,,whether fluid flow area model or entire component model... my boundary condition is "heat flux is applied over the wall of the tube",,, suppose if i draw fluid flow area means where i wants to give heat flux ,,,y i'm asking is finned area is inside the tube,,, fluid area consists only fluid flow path area[i.e portion of fin area is cut out] plz kindly give your comments...my mail id is vijay.cadcam@gmail.com your's truely, k.venkatachalapathi.

Re: which area want to draw for fluent thermal ana

deaer friend about drawing the area, if u want to see heat transfer through fins (conduction) then u should model fin volumes also. and from ur data it seems that u have to model the fin volume too.

Regarding applying heat flux if u r having experimentation data of heat flux on inner wall of tube then apply directly heat flux to inner wall of tube butif u have heat flux data on outer wall of tube then u need to model tube thickness also and then give heat flux on outer side of tube (as thickness adds some resistance to conduction, but if thickness is not affecting problem then no need to consider it)

heat flux boundary condition

i am facing lot of problems in heat flux boundary condition in a rectangular slab. i am using FVM approach i requst sir please send discretization procedure in heat flux boundary conditions .
thank you very much sir.
