modeling perforated plate
Hi all,

I am trying to model a perforated plate at the end of a pipe as a porous media in 2D. Can some one help me on how to do it? I know the porosity and K(the flow resistance coefficient) of the perforated plate. I would be glad if some one tells me the procedures to determine the coefficients for fluent.

That's explicitly written on Fluent user's guide. See porous media chapter.

Dear Pablo,

Thank you for your response. From the fluent user's guide worked example (equations 6.19-10 to 6.19-13), I could calulate C2, it becomes 1122, but this method doesn't say about how to get 1/alpha?

Then, since I have an experimental data (pressure drop Vs velocity) of the same plate, I used eqns. 6.19-22 and calculated both C2 and 1/alpha,. However, the new C2 is a completely different number, C2= 0.7720.

That's where I am confused?! I am sure I am missing something, Can you help me now?
