Need help for GAMBIT

In my research , I need to do a CFD model using GAMBIT and FLUENT. My flow is water and this is an open channel flow. I draw geometry in GAMBIT up to face stage. I considered x, y and z value and I have 7 faces. My query is: (1) Do I need to do 2D modelling or (2) 3D modelling. (3) In case of 2D or 3D modelling what I need to do next?

Any help will be highly appreciable.

Hi!

ok.. thats a big question!

first, 2D or 3D depends on the problem.

If your channel is straight without any flow normal to the symmetry plane, 2D is a good choice. Also it is always a good idea, to model problems in 2D first, to get an idea of the flow and the problems involved - especially for CFD beginners.

Now, for using gambit... there are a number of tutorials that are really helpful. I suggest to use them!

Best wishes Ralf
