Hi,
I'm using gambit to generate mesh on a plate with 4 hole and I want only to refine the mesh inside the 4 holes. I tried everything you can imaging without succeed.....Can someone help me. Thanks, |

What if, you generate the mesh how you can, than in the Fluent you adapt the grid?!

Thanks for the quick reply....
I tried to generate the mesh in gambit but it doesn't work. I got the message error below: Cannot submap face 2. Furhter decomposition may help. Also check interval assigments for correctness. |

I had the same problem (cannot submap face x), when the face was too small, several order of magnitude lower compare to the other faces...

And did you tried set the interface in gambit and then join them in fluent??

Thanks, |

I was thinking to do it. However I have two big cylinder joined by 50 small cylinder.... thus I'll need 100 interfaces ???
Thanks, |

Until this time I could neglect these small shapes.

Lets solve toe original problem. A plate with 4 holes. Fine mesh in the holes, coarse mesh everywhere around. 1. Create a fine mesh on the edge of the holes. 2. Create a Quad Pave mesh on the 4 holes using a fine factor. 3. Create a sizing function with the edge as source and the remaining plate as the target. The ratio should be 1.1 or 1.2 (not more than 1.2)and set the max size that you want. 4. Now pave mesh the plate by uncheching the mesh size option. You will get a mesh which gradually coarsens from the fine mesh on the 4 hole.
