I think this is a novice question. Nevertheless, I'm new and don't know the answer. I solved a model in Fluent last week. Today I re-opened the software and would like to review the progression of the residuals through the solution. Is there a way to look at those plots again without re-solving the model?

Note, I'm using v182 ANSYS.

Thanks in advance!

Hmm, okay. Sounds archaic. I guess I assumed the software had more sophistication than that. Nevertheless, I suppose that's what I'll do. Thanks for the tip.

Update for anybody who might benefit from what I just learned...
When you re-open Fluent, you can click Monitors > Residuals in the tree. In the residuals window, you can click Plot to show the residuals from the previous run. It's very simple and I was happy to accidentally stumble onto this.

Small disclaimer though...taking these steps will plot the primary residuals (velocity and continuity). I haven't figured out if or how you can also replot other residuals (e.g., lift or drag) once you re-open a Fluent session.

Hey M Rizon

I just closed my residual plot by accident and found your post here. If I do klick on the residuals and plot it does not work for my. Do you know any other variant by now?

Cheers,

Edit: oke after closing fluent and reopening fluent and reading the case and data your variant works. Apparently it does not work if you only close the residual plot and like to reopen it again.

Hi, I think it belongs more or less to this thread.
A funny thing I noticed is that the X-axis (iterations) of my residuals plot is different between:
  • Solution>Monitors>Residual plot and;
  • Simulation reports>View report

I attach a photo of it.
https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/2554/ppTVXm.png

The values are the ones of the 5000th iteration but the X-axis gets to the 1000th only, but on the 1000th iteration the residual was much higher than what is shown.
