How to import an existing converged soultion into a similar refined mesh?

Hi all,

I am new to fluent, and am currentley working on my third year project at the univeristy of nottingham, uk. I have been told that i can start iterating on an already converged solution (i.e one that has converged on a less refined mesh than the one i am currentley using) to save time.

Can anyone tell me if this is possible? and if so how?

Hello Sophie,

Yes it is possible.

It is neither called import/export nor mapping, somehow this option in Fluent is called Interpolation. To get more familiar with the whole process look into Fluent documentation, subchapter: 4.13. Grid-to-Grid Solution Interpolation.

It is nicely explained.

When you try it, let us know how did your interpolation work.
