dear all,

is it true that thread IDs of surfaces created in post-processing panel (i.e. NOT made from GAMBIT) cannot be accessed in UDF ?

hoping for a reply.

best regards.

hello
the geometric entities you have create in Fluent through post processing panel must not be know in the mesh,i.e. they don't contain any node...I think you can't use it for computation in an UDF. Anyway, adding some surfaces for post processing in Gambit is a good way to process, cause it avoid some surface creation troubles.

Regards

it would be troublesome if the created surface is dynamically changing

yes, i understand the point you are making bernard. it is true.
but i agree with panda also.
i mean, how could i know which surfaces could be interesting from before hand (i.e. from the time of making the mesh)
i mean this could be too much demanding of the flow knowledge beforehand isn't it ?

anyways, i think i have some idea wherein i could use a loop over all the domain so that i could choose the cells of the surface position i need. maybe this would help.
