I am trying to run CFD analysis in fluent. I have meshed the object in question and tried to import it into fluent and the following error comes up

"Building...
grid,
Cell Centroid is xc -211.957962 yc 37.278210 zc 686.693054
WARNING: cell 1101 of thread 2 has NULL face pointer 3.Error: Build_Grid: grid error.
Clearing partially read grid.
Error: Null Domain Pointer
Error Object: ()"

Can anyone tell me what this means and how to solve the problem?

Cheers

your mesh is not exported properly.

Ok thanks. Does anyone know exactly why this may be happening? If I reduce the mesh quality fluent reads then mesh. According to Gambit the mesh is successfully exported with no errors so I don’t understand why Fluent can not read the mesh.

I am still getting the same error it seems that the software does not like it when faces are merged and then meshed, this is when the error occurs in fluent. Its driving me MAD!

hi rblake

have you checked the mesh in the Gambit to make sure the quality is suitable before exporting?

I hope it's not the "negtive volume" problem.

Hi, yes I have checked that the full volume has meshed and the quality isn't too bad. The worst mesh element is around 0.85 I think, is this bad I have little experience with CFD.
