I have installed Windows XP x64 on my computer trying to take out the max performance of my 64 bits CPU.
I have Fluent 6.2 and it starts with no problem. In order to run Gambit, I have Exceed 6.1. The problem is that Gambit doesn't run, although when I start Gambit, Exceed screen turns up. Do you think it could be caused by the new OS? Thank you very much |

the problem lies on Exceed.
I run Gambit on XP64 with Exceed 11

So do you mean that Exceed 6.1 is not suitable for XP x64? Is there any problem in using an old Gambit (I don't remember its version) with a newer version of Exceed (e.g. Exceed 11)?

I just said that Gambit runs under XP64 with Exceed 11 (this is my case)
But Gambit isn't a 64bit application, it will be installed on Programm_Files_x86 folder.

OK thanks a lot. I will try to get a newer version of Exceed. Do you think it's worth using XP x64 in stead of the usual 32 bits XP? I mean, there are some software incompability problems with the x64 OS, but I would like to exploit the performance of my 64 bit cpu

I asked myself the same question yesterday.
On 32bit (8GB Ram but just 3.5 recognized) I was out of memory. On 64bit, same problem (despite the 8GB). It's also not worth to use Gambit on 64bit instead of 32bit... but it isn't better at all. As I said, Gambit isn't a 64bit application, so you won't have the benefit from your 64bit CPU. BUT Fluent will.....

Will the 6.2 Fluent version have the benefit of my 64bit CPU? I start to regret installing this 64 bit OS

I don't know if 6.2 is compatible with 64bit (but I think)
The version 6.3 takes the benefits of 64bit architecture. If you handle a big project, you won't regret 64bit OS, especially for the the post-processing (just because XP64 enables more than 3GB RAM)

Yeah that's the next step. Now I have only 3 GB RAM, but I will encrease it when the XP x64 is working well.
