Wall Heat Transfer

Hi,

I have a laminar flow and a heated section with const. tempertaure.
Is not the heat transfer is computed using -k(partial(Temperature)/partial(y))
My question is : if I resolve the boundary layer fine, is is not enough to take for example one elemnt length above the heated section
and compute like

-k(T_w-T_e)/(y_e); T_e: temperature for element at one elment length distance above y_e: distance (1 element length)

Sometimes, bulk or free stream temperatures are used?
Why? What is the benefit? (How is the bulk temp. defined in fluent)

How much error gives the solution with these approaches compred to the first one? Which one is correct :D

Thanks, :)
