Multiple Shape Volume Mesh
I'm battling to mesh a volume that consists of prismic and quad volumes. I wanted to use cooper mesh but it couldn't work. Most examples that I've seen where they mesha vlome with different shapes they use cooper. But i think the problem is the version of Fuent software that I'm using. I'm using Fluent 6.3.26, and modeling using Gambit 2.4.6. It's just that teh examples i've seen don't indicate what software version they were using. If I were to use cooper mesh, I should identify sources, but the software version I'm using doesn't have the sources feature.
Can someone please advise what should I do? Thanking you in advance. |
Meshing with Cooper scheme needs some special points. The problem is not in the GAMBIT version... post the geometry and I'll try to help.... be aware that you need to mesh some faces with QUAD MAP for example....

Do you have one volume, or more?
In other words, is your geometry already splitted? If your geometry is well splitted, gambit will automatically choose the right mesh-scheme adapted to selected sub-volume. In your case, it should select hex-cooper |

No, I only have one volume. The geometry is not split. I'm using Gambit 2.4.6, this is an older version. The lates version I've hear that it does automesh a geometry. The old versions could easily perform cooper mesh, but this version doesn't because there's no feature that allows one to identify sources. That's setbackin trying to cooper mesh this volume.

I'm cooling a hot surface using microchannel heat sinks. The heat sinks have a tree-shaped structure. The coolant medium is water.

You have to split your model into several basic sub-volumes which can be easily meshed with hex-cooper.
