Rearward facing step simulations

Hi,

I will be running some transonic, viscous simulations on a 2D rearward facing step. I'll run some preliminary simulations to assess solution independence to mesh density, fluid domain size and viscous structured mesh layer height.

However, what parameters are recommended to use for these independence assessments? Pressure distribution on the rear face of the step, turbulence parameters on the domain outflow face?

Also, any recommendations of domain and mesh sizes for me to use as a start? The step height is about 0.2m and y+ will be in the range of 30, I guess.

Also, am I correct in thinking that becuase this is a 2D simulation I cannot use DES and LES turbulence models?

Thanks

Has nobody modelled such a flow before and can offer help?
