Hi,
I have a problem about solid combusiton. I am wondering if Fluent can deal with it or not. Here is the problem: A diffusion flame exists over a solid fuel. The heat transfer between the diffusion flame and solid fuel should be considered. The solid fuel vapor is pyrolyzed (vaporized) from solid surface and the pyrolysis rate is a function of solid surface temperature. It can assmue that the degression of solid fuel surface can be ignored. According to my trials on FRUENT, I can not set the fuel mass flux from "solid surface". Does anyone have comment on this or know what model I should use? Thanks in advance. Sam |

hello,
Which multiphase model are you using to define your problem. i guess, Euler-granular model will be helpful for your purpose. To define pyrolysed species you need to define pseudo species from material panel, and then use Macro, DEFINE_MASS_TRANSFER to release pyrolysed products from pseudo species to gas (primary)phase. i hope this will help you. regards Chetan |

Thank you for your reply.
I will try the model and the Macro you suggested. Currently, I use a pyrolysis layer over the solid surfcace, which is very thin, and set it as porous medium, so I can apply source Macros on the porous region. FYI. Sam Quote:
