Hello all

I have simulated a case with VOF model for getting interface of water and air. Now I need to introduce (Inject) some solid particles into the mixture of high speed water and air (Gas-liquid-solid).

1. Can I now switch to Discrete Particle Model directly from VOF
2. How to couple them (DPM & VOF) together in FLUENT ?

As I have seen in the FLUENT manual there are no restrictions on using VOF model in combination with DPM......

thanks

Hello cfdiscool,

I am facing same problem as yours. I am trying to introduce solid particles into stream of liquids. I have to use VOF to study the interference between the liquids. At the same time i have to study the behavior of these solid particles introduced.

If you found the way to do it , please guide me.

Anyone working on this please help me. I have read other threads but I still need some info on this.
Thanks in advance.!

Hello all,
It's possible to couple vof model and dpm model at the same time in Fluent. but you have to choose the primary fluid wisely.
Best,

Hi Ved,
In which of the phases do you need the particles to exist? in only one, or in both?
The Eulerian multiphase model has very different purposes than VoF, so I would not directly consider that.

Actually i am simulating water droplets (secondary phase) in air over cylindrical surface in DPM model (to calculate drag and particles tracking ) which then i want to couple with euler water film model to calculate water film thickness.
