2d mesh

Hi
I am a novice and im just looking for some advice on how i would go about solving this problem
I am trying to model the flow over a bi-directional impulse turbine for wave energy (pic attached). Its straightforward geometry with 26 guide vanes and 30 rotors which i have created a 2D representation in gambit and imported the mesh into fluent(attached). I intended to model the tubine using the sliding mesh technique or using the mixing plane technique. i have looked at the relevent tutorials 10, 11 but i am still having issues. A few questions
Can a sliding mesh be used when there are two stators and one rotor with different geometries ( 26 guide vanes, 30 rotors) Can mixing planes be used in 2D?
If anyone has advice it would be appreciated
Cheers
Shane
